Purpose

Student Reader for Google Docs is an educational reading support add-on. It helps users read Google Docs aloud using available browser speech synthesis voices.

Educational and Accessibility Use

Student Reader v1.6 is intended for educational reading support and accessibility. Feature availability may depend on the browser, operating system, Google Workspace environment, and available voices or Google services.

Acceptable Use

Users should use Student Reader for lawful educational, accessibility, and productivity purposes. Users are responsible for making sure they have permission to access and read the documents they use with the add-on.

Document, Speech, and Translation Processing

Student Reader accesses requested text from the current Google Doc and returns it to the active interface during the user's Google session. Speech uses the browser Speech Synthesis API and browser or system voices; DonatiTech does not operate an external text-to-speech service.

Original English is the default. If a user intentionally selects Spanish, the English text being translated is processed through Google's Apps Script Language service and returned to the active Student Reader session. Translation does not alter the original Google Doc, and Student Reader does not store translated text or translation history.

No Guarantee of Availability

Voice availability, speech quality, and sidebar behavior depend on the user's browser, device, operating system, Google Workspace account, and school-managed settings. DonatiTech does not guarantee that every voice or feature will work on every device.

Machine translation may contain errors or differences in meaning and is not guaranteed to be a professional or exact translation. Spanish read-aloud requires a compatible Spanish browser or system voice. Translation and speech availability may be affected by browser, device, network, or Google service availability.

Browser-Local Settings

Student Reader stores reading preferences and limited Original English reading-position or bookmark metadata in the user's browser profile. These settings may not be available on another computer, browser, or profile and may be removed when local browser storage is cleared.

Classroom and Accessibility Review

Teachers, schools, and districts should review Student Reader before student use to confirm that it meets instructional, accessibility, privacy, and technology requirements.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Student Reader is provided as-is without warranties of any kind. DonatiTech is not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the add-on.

Changes

DonatiTech may update these terms as Student Reader evolves. Continued use after changes means acceptance of the updated terms.
